​“Banding Together” concert showcases amazing musical talent of local bands

“Banding Together,” a fund-raising concert to support school music programs, featured five community bands in an epic night of music, Saturday, May 4, at Kincardine District Senior School (KDSS).

Each band performed a number of pieces, showcasing the band members’ amazing talent.

After the last band performed, all 145 musicians joined in playing a “Star Wars” medley together. The Force was strong with this one!

Gathered for the event, were:
 

• The Kincardine Brass Band, directed by Nancy Ross
• The Port Elgin Community Band, directed by Cam Porter, Ian Burbidge, Kim Lake, and Don Burns
• The Southampton Concert Band, directed by John Wills
• The KDSS secondary music class, directed by Andrew Robichaud
• The KDSS Concert Band, directed by Christine Mensher 

Donations from the concert go directly to area school music programs.
