Kincardine teenage photographer has work on display at Victoria Park Gallery

Jobe King loves to capture aspects of God’s vast creation through the medium of photography.

The 13-year-old son of Keith and Lisa King of Kincardine has his work on display at the Victoria Park Gallery in downtown Kincardine, as the guest artist for the month of May.

His interest in photography began with an interest in insects.

“I loved studying ants, so I began taking photos of them,” he says. “I started out using a Smartphone (cell phone) and then got a Fuji digital camera.”

His favourite photo is of a lion, taken at the African Lion Safari. “I took the picture and then made it dark so it looks like a black-and-white photo.”

Jobe enjoys taking photos of animals, as well as terrain, landscapes, the forest, his backyard, the beach, and blossoms on the trees.

This is his first gallery exhibit and he is quite excited.

“My mom contacted the gallery and brought in some of my photos, and here we are,” he says. “It feels good to have my work on display. It’s something new. I’m thrilled to show my work to other people.”

A Grade 8 student who is home-schooled, Jobe plans to study computers and music, but he would like to continue his photography as a hobby or side business.

“I’d like to start small and branch out into far away places, such as Niagara Falls,” he says.

As he continues with his photography, Jobe has a heart to share his talent with others, making a difference in the lives of those around him.
