Purple Grove news

We hope everyone had a lovely day on Mother's Day, honouring  our mothers, grandmothers and extended family.  It is always good to have the sunshine to to lift our spirits.

For all those families that are grieving, our thoughts are with you, especially the families of Beth Aitchison of Lucknow and B.J. Finlay, formerly of Kincardine.

It was a good weekend to be out in the bush enjoying the trilliums, and weren't the daffodils a joy to behold?

We wish Gavin Bridge a Happy 9th Birthday. Happy Birthday to all those celebrating this month, including Nolan Thompson, Chris Farrell and Susan Van Sickle!

Marilyn Reid enjoyed travelling to Woodstock to celebrate the 8th birthday of her great-granddaughter, Addison.

Teresa and David Becker hosted a baby shower, Saturday, for their twin grandchildren, Beadeen and Aubrey Becker. To quote one of our neighbours: "I love a baby shower and you get to hold the wee ones.”

Our thoughts are with all the folks being forced out of their homes in Fort Nelson and area. Forest fires are so devastating.

Hope some of you were able to enjoy Wing Night at the Ripley-Huron Legion, Saturday evening, and the Fish Fry Take-Out hosted by the Ripley Agricultural Society, Sunday evening.

There was a great turn-out at the open house hosted by the Lotton Family on the 6th Concession, Saturday, with the surprise arrival of Adam Cousins to provide the music!

For those of us who stayed up late Friday night, what a rare treat to catch the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) and the great light show put on! One of the benefits of living away from the city lights - being able to find night skies!
