​Trillium Aviators bring almost 50 aircraft to Kincardine Airport for fly-in

The Kincardine Airport was a busy place Thursday, as 46 landings were reported by airport manager Stephen Rouse, at the Trillium Aviators fly-in.

Members of the group arrived from as far away as Kingston for this event. The aircraft included a wide range of home-builts and vintage planes with a Rutan Long-Eze being among the more unique.

The Trillium Aviators are a group of pilots that was formed by Ivan Kristensen to help promote small airports and general aviation during the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. A group of contacts was maintained and during the summer, locations would be chosen for a fly-in.

The Kincardine fly-in was a special occasion as Kristensen announced he is stepping down from his leadership role, and handing it over to Dave Carswell and Peter Burford.

Rouse had a superb crew of helpers on the ground, including Jim Mimnagh who co-ordinated the day, which went smoothly. Dave Little was the main lead to marshall these fine machines.

A brief ceremony was held, as Dave Little, captain of COPA Chapter 172, presented Kristensen with a commemorative plaque, and Stan Pickles presented him with a book of the history of the Kincardine Airport signed by his well-wishers.
