​Huron County OPP Law Enforcement Torch Run a great success

(HURON COUNTY, ON) - The Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run was held in Huron County, Wednesday, and was a great success, raising almost $4,500 for Special Olympics.

The Huron County OPP and Special Olympics Ontario partnered alongside family members, friends, and community supporters from all over Huron County to raise awareness and raise funds for Special Olympics.

The torch run is the largest public awareness vehicle and grassroots fund-raiser for Special Olympics.

This year, Huron OPP Torch Run co-ordinator, sergeant Russell Nesbitt, who has been involved with this great partnership for 27 years, reported a fund-raising total of $4,385!

The Huron County Torch Run started at the Maitland River Community Church in Wingham, ran through the town and ended at the south end. Participants were then transported to Blyth, Clinton, and Goderich where they brought their excitement and joy to each of those communities. 

After completing the final leg in Goderich, participants and supporters met at McGee Motors on Suncoast Drive East, for a celebration barbecue.

A BIG "THANKS" to our donors, Goderich Zehrs Store, First Student Bus Line Goderich, M&M Meats Goderich, and McGee Motors, who provided transportation, food items and support for the participants and volunteers.
