Amid a heavy snowfall, a large crowd gathered at St. Andrews Park in Tiverton for the seventh annual tree-lighting Saturday night. The snow continued to fall, there were a few freshly-built snowmen, and a live nativity scene, complete with Jimmy the Donkey and two adorable lambs.
Everyone joined in for some Christmas carols, hot chocolate and cookies. Santa also appeared, to the excitement of children of all ages. It was truly a beautiful night. A big heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers and especially Lisa Robertson-Taylor and Heather Convay for organizing this event. The list of volunteers who made this night special is endless. Thanks to all of you.
The Tiverton Lions Club is still looking to sponsor a local youth, between the ages of 16 and 20, who would like to take part in the International Lions Clubs Youth exchange in June/July, 2016. Applicants must reside in Bruce Township, Kincardine Township or Tiverton. Deadline for application is Dec. 15, 2015, to Lion Brent Crawford, 519-368-5361.
Tiverton Knox Presbyterian Church will be holding a Christmas Cookie Walk Saturday, Dec. 5, from 10 a.m. to Noon. This is a chance for people who do not bake or are too busy to bake, to get fancy homemade cookies, squares, fudge, etc.
Tiverton Baptist Church Annual Christmas Ladies Night will be held Monday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m. Have yourself a healthy, little Christmas! We have guest speakers regarding health and wellness.
Condolences to the Avis family of Inverhuron on the passing of Glenda. Her smile will be missed at the Tiverton Library. Condolences also to the Steinhoff family of Tiverton on the passing of John Steinhoff.
