Kincardine Legion Corner

The big news this week is that the Ace of Spades was caught in the Catch the Ace progressive lottery! Regan Carruthers of Kincardine was the winner in the Week 40 draw and she chose Envelope No. 30 which was right on the money (pun intended). Congratulations to Regan on winning the jackpot of $202,730.50. Next week, we hope to have some further details on the amounts this round of Catch the Ace raised for the charities, once all the final numbers are crunched. Thank you to everyone who bought tickets over the 40 weeks and helped to support the Kincardine Legion, Huron Shores Hospice, and the Tiverton and District Lions. In case you are already wondering, the next round will begin in roughly four to six weeks, around the end of July or beginning of August.

The Saturday Meat Draw results had Lynn Evans as a double-dipper. Charlie Samms was the 50/50 draw winner, taking home $227. If you are planning to attend this Saturday, remember tickets go on sale at 2:30 p.m., with the first draw at 3 p.m. The 50/50 is drawn at 5 p.m.

Trivia Night is this Friday at 7 p.m., and at last check, there were a few available slots, so register fast. Once again, the kitchen will be open at 5 p.m., so you can get dinner before trivia starts. On the menu are Loaded Nachos and Pizza by the Slice.

Good luck to all the athletes this weekend at the District C Track and Field Meet, which runs Saturday, June 15, at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine.

Looking ahead in June, plan to attend the Family Dinner, Sunday, June 23, with the doors opening at 5 p.m. Arrive early to make sure you get a spot to enjoy a superb roast beef dinner with all the fixings. Earlier in the day, June 23, at 2 p.m., is the General Membership Meeting.

If we look even further out, and into July, there are few events you will want to add to your calendar. July 1, come to the Legion for Canada Day and enjoy some food and refreshments. We hope to have the ‘parking lot patio’ open again, similar to last year. Saturday, July 13, is our Legion Blues Festival, with food, refreshments and good music. Admission is free, and doors open at Noon with music beginning at 1 p.m.
