​Kincardine dealership owners driving health care in the community for generations to come

When the Gudelj family needed the local hospital, the doctors, nurses, and staff in the emergency department of the Kincardine Hospital were there for them - life-saving care, available locally.

That’s one of the reasons why Joe and Julie Gudelj decided they needed to thank and support their local hospital for the care their family has received in the past, and for the care they know they can rely on in the future.

The owners of Lakeside Chevrolet Buick GMC in Kincardine are supporting the redevelopment of the Kincardine Hospital with an investment of $100,000 over the next five years. The donation is being made not just for the Gudelj family, but for the future health of their employees, customers, and community.

“It’s so important that we have a strong hospital in our community,” says Julie. “You just never know when you’re going to need the best care, and we want to help make sure Kincardine has top-notch health care for generations to come.”

Becky Fair, president of the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation which is co-ordinating the capital campaign, praised the Gudeljs’ leadership. “Their generosity will ensure the health of Kincardine, and its citizens for years to come.”

This donation goes toward funding the $18-million local share of the $79-million redevelopment cost of the Kincardine build which includes funding for an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) machine.

Friday morning, the Gudeljs joined with their staff and the foundation to celebration this substantial contribution.

The foundation has gathered a team of volunteers led by co-chairpersons Kathryn Freimanis and Graham Mahood. These volunteers are the foundation’s ambassadors, and include current and retired health-care workers, business people, and interested community members.

These ambassadors are reaching out to families, community groups and businesses to achieve the $18-million goal of the “Building Health Care for Generations” campaign.

The event runs Friday, June 21, at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine. Last week, the foundation travelled to Ayton to meet the representatives of Germania Mutual Insurance which has made a five-year commitment of $50,000 to the MRI at Kincardine Hospital.
