Kincardine Legion Corner

Wow, our Canada Day event at the Legion was a hit! It was a beautiful day, weather-wise, and the tables outside were full. Hwy 19 played the hits all afternoon for the people on the patio and we cooked hundreds of food orders. The fresh-cut fries were a favourite. Guess how many pounds of potatoes we went through? (Think on it as you read on and I’ll give you the answer at the end.) The winner of the Canada Day 50/50 draw was Sheilagh Buchan who took home a nice sum of $853.50! Thanks to everyone who dropped by to join us; remember the profits from these events go back into our local community!

We also send out a big thank you to our Legion Colour Party which led the Canada Day Parade, Monday. Thank you to sergeant-at-arms Kirk Rutledge, and flag-bearers Shane Hotchkiss, Robert Grey, Dave Dechene, and Mike Dupuis, for representing us in the parade, and for your service. If anyone would like to join the Colour Party for future events, contact Kirk Rutledge.

At the Saturday Meat Draw, Jamie White took home $112 in the 50/50 draw. Allen seemed to be the lucky name, as winners included Shannon Allen, Haley Allen and Heidi Allen, as a double-dipper, in the meat draws! There is no meat draw, Saturday, July 13, as this is the Legion Blues Celebration.

Don’t forget our Legion Blues Celebration is free Saturday, July 13, so plan to drop by for some good food, refreshments and great music. Music acts featured include The Stevie T Band, Bayou Boys, Mike Branton Trio and Beggars Banquet. On the menu is this great deal – six wings, fries and pitcher of Grey Matter Beer for $25. Other events coming up this month include: Trivia Night, Friday, July 19; and the Family Dinner, Sunday, July 28.

Our Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday lunches will run through the summer, so drop by for some delicious cooking.

Lastly, a reminder to Legion members that there are NO General Membership meetings in July and August.
