We should also acknowledge founders of Kincardine Scottish Festival, says reader

RE: “Kincardine honours Tony Doherty for 25 years of dedication to Scottish Festival”
I agree that Tony Doherty has worked hard over the years for the Kincardine Scottish Festival when he took over from Jim McArthur. However, I was disappointed that David MacKenzie and Gord Rodgers were not acknowledged as the founders of the event.
It was these two, along with members of the Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band, who actually got this festival to be held in Kincardine. Other individuals who should have been acknowledged, are Jim McArthur and Basil McCarthy who both worked hard at the beginning to make the festival a success.
At this 25th anniversary of the Kincardine Scottish Festival, to honour just one individual and overlook the founders and the ones who did the work in the early years and who maintained the Scottish theme, is very disappointing and disrespectful to them.
I, personally, thank and acknowledge these individuals and the members of the Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band on this, the 25th anniversary of the festival.
