What wonderful weather we had this week! Perfect for combining, haying, camping, hitting the beach, working in the garden, ball games and holidays. Take care and travel safely on the roads and around the farm!

Happy Birthday this week to Kendall Cubberly who will be three on Tuesday; also to Bernice Courtney, Ferne Abell, Elizabeth Chesboro and Reine Arnold! And a special Happy 70th Birthday to Kerry Houston!

Belated Wedding Anniversary greetings to Jack and Annabelle Aitchison, Bernice and Carmon Courtney, Joe and Bev Fry; and this week, to Caitlin and Kenny Harris and Reine and Ron de Gans!

Congratulations to those who organized the Mushball Tournament in Ripley on the weekend, and to Bruce Power for the Fun Fest, Saturday, in Kincardine.

And congratulations to the Ripley firefighters for the breakfast, Saturday. It was sure appreciated and enjoyed by a great crowd!

This weekend saw the arrival of the July full moon which is called the Buck Moon or Thunder Moon. That is because the antlers of the deer are maturing and it’s the time of year we get the most thunderstorms. Some say that the smoke drift from the current wildfires caused the moon to look more red or orange and maybe that's so. It's sure nice to be able to see the night skies and pick out those constellations that we know!

If anyone was down at Station Beach, Kincardine, over the weekend, you might have seen some of Matt Black's inflatables and kites flying out there! Of course, it all depends on the wind and the timing. Matt has more than 35 different inflatables that he can fly. The Kites in the Field event is set for Sept. 28-29 at the Music in the Fields location in Lucknow.

And it was National Ice Cream Day, Sunday, so we hope you were able to enjoy that treat somewhere along your travels!
