Roof replaced on Walker House in Kincardine
The Walker House in Kincardine is sporting a new roof, thanks to generous donations from the community.
Through a mail-out earlier this year by the fund-raising committee (the Friends of Paddy and Jane Walker), and the proceeds from the gala held in April, the goal of $30,000 was met for this project.
North Star Carpentry began the work Monday and despite the thunderstorm that rolled through Tuesday, managed to complete the work by Wednesday.
The company installed fiberglass asphalt shingles on the Walker House. This product was chosen because the design and colour were close to the heritage aspect, while being a more secure option than cedar. The product has a 40-year manufacturer’s guarantee, and the hot weather this week should do a good job of sealing it down.
The Paddy Walker Heritage Society thanks everyone who supported the “Raise the Roof” campaign. There is a new and exciting project planned for the coming year so be on the look-out for news from the fund-raising committee.
