George Ling of Kincardine won $832 in Week 2 of the Catch the Ace progressive lottery draw. He chose Envelope No. 13, which contained the Five of Diamonds. At the Saturday Meat Draw, we didn’t have any double-dippers, but Cathy Alcombrack won in the draw and then also won $170 in the 50/50 draw. Congratulations, Cathy!

The menu is now set for the next Family Dinner, Sunday, Aug. 18 at 5 p.m. It will be a cold plate supper, with potato salad, macaroni salad, tossed salad, devilled eggs and more. Ticket prices for the Family Dinner are as follows: Adults, $22; Seniors (age 65-plus), $20; Children (age six to 12), $15, children (age five and under), free;, and the Family Rate (two adults, two children), $65.

For the golfers out there, sign-up is open for the Sept. 29 Legion Fun Golf Tournament at Ainsdale Golf Course. The event begins at 2 p.m., and will be nine holes, with a cart, plus a roast beef dinner to follow. The dinner is at the Legion. If you are interested in playing, call Ainsdale to book your tee times (519-395-5555) and drop in and pay at the Legion Bar before the tournament date. List your team names and one contact number. Looking ahead to October, tickets are now on sale at the Legion Bar for the Fall Dinner and Dance, Oct. 4, with music by Midnight Special Express; and for an Evening with Psychic Kelly Elson, Oct. 12. More details and ticket information can be found on our Branch 183 Kincardine Facebook page.

This past week, the Ride For Dad riders took a pit stop at Branch 183. We were their second stop on a ride that took them from Wingham to the Paisley Legion, then Kincardine and on to the Goderich Legion before heading back to Wingham. The Ride for Dad and the Prostate Cancer Fight Foundation are on a mission to save men’s lives by funding prostate cancer research and raising awareness about the disease across Canada.
