Family Safety Day to focus on road safety and staying safe on-line

The Community Safety and Well-Being Planning Crime Prevention Action Table, in partnership with the Saugeen Valley Children’s Safety Village and the Rotary Club of Walkerton, welcomes everyone to attend Family Safety Day, Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Saugeen Valley Children’s Safety Village, south of Hanover.

The event will focus on teaching road safety to children up to the age of 11, through fun and engaging lessons, including driving battery-operated, child-sized cars, and scooter-riding with police officers! Meanwhile, parents and guardians can learn about how to keep themselves and their children safe on-line at the event.

Families will have the opportunity to engage with Crime Stoppers Grey Bruce and Victim Services Bruce Grey to learn about their programs and services. Following the fun and interactive learning sessions with police officers, families can enjoy a free barbecue and grab a goodie bag to take home.

The event will be held at the safety village, located in the Sulphur Springs Conservation Area (261123 Grey County Road 28), south of Hanover. It will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with sessions beginning at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., Noon, and 1 p.m.
