​Guy Gallant is new Kincardine fire chief

Guy Gallant (above) is the new Kincardine fire chief, effective Monday (Aug. 19).

Kincardine council approved the appointment at the meeting, Wednesday (Aug. 14).

Gallant brings extensive fire and emergency service experience to the role, with more than 25 years in the sector in such positions as fire chief, deputy fire chief, and an instructor at the Ontario Fire College. Most recently, he served as the fire chief for the Municipality of South Bruce.

“I’m looking forward to this new opportunity and working alongside municipal staff, council, and my fellow firefighters at both Stations 11 and 12, to ensure the safety of our community,” said Gallant.

The fire chief provides direction and leadership for both the administration and operations of Kincardine Fire and Emergency Services. The dynamic role includes a variety of responsibilities, such as the planning, development, and implementation of requirements and best practices related to fire prevention, suppression, training, investigation, and public education.

“On behalf of council and staff, I’m pleased to welcome Guy (Gallant) to the Municipality of Kincardine,” said chief administrative officer Jillene Bellchamber-Glazier. “We’re looking forward to his contributions and are confident that he will effectively lead the department to accomplish our strategic goals.”
