South Bruce OPP report thief arrested; domestic violence; and safety at Music in the Fields

POLICE MAKE ARREST IN BREAK-AND-ENTER IN KINCARDINE
 
(KINCARDINE, ON) - The South Bruce OPP has made an arrest after appealing to the public for information pertaining to a break-and-enter in Kincardine.

Aug. 18, police received the report of a break-and-enter at a business property along Queen Street, Kincardine. Once inside, the individual(s) stole approximately $2,500 in clothing. Two reported break-and-enters occurred two nights in a row.

As a result of the investigation, a 40-year-old Kincardine resident has been arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. Police believe additional individuals were involved.

Police are asking the public to check video surveillance around Queen Street, Kincardine, between Aug. 15 at 5 p.m., and Aug. 16 at 8 a.m., as well as Aug, 17 at 9 p.m. and Aug. 18 at 8:00 a.m.

INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE INVESTIGATION LEADS TO CHARGES

(ARRAN-ELDERSLIE, ON) - Aug. 20, the South Bruce OPP responded to an address in Elderslie Township and initiated an intimate partner violence investigation.

As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old resident of London has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences: Assault (spousal).

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

The OPP will not release names to protect the identity of the victims.

OPP SAFETY TIPS FOR THOSE ATTENDING MUSIC IN THE FIELDS

(LUCKNOW, ON) - The South Bruce OPP is focusing efforts on promoting safety at this weekend’s Music in the Fields concert in Lucknow.

This event is an annual non-profit music festival based in rural Lucknow. Expect to see an increase in traffic in the Township of Huron-Kinloss and surrounding area.

"The South Bruce OPP has dedicated paid-duty officers to the event, said inspector Keegan Wilcox, detachment commander. “The public can expect to see an increase in general patrol officers on foot and conducting RIDE programs in the area. Public safety and engagement are our focus this weekend."

The South Bruce OPP reminds the public of the following safety tips when attending outdoor music festivals:
 

• Use the buddy system; know where your friends are and pick a meeting place in the event you get separated
• Keep your cell phones charged
• Know where the security checkpoints are and where you can go for help, paramedic staging and police command post
• Keep track of your drinks and understand that alcohol or cannabis affect you
• Stay hydrated; alcohol mixed with hot weather can lead to heat stroke
• Know who you will be with and where you will stay; don't show up without a plan in place
• Become familiar with the festival grounds so at any given time, you know where you are
• Have an emergency contact on standby in case you want to leave the event and pre-arrange a pickup point
• If you are of legal age, use alcohol or cannabis in moderation, don't binge drink or over consume
• Do not accept drinks or cannabis from people you don't know
