Bervie W.I. visits Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre
The Bervie Women’s Institute members met at the Bervie United Church, Wednesday, and carpooled to the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre in Southampton, with the theme being “Culture.”
Convener Brenda Ramsdale had organized a tour of the museum and everyone enjoyed seeing the new Indigenous area (well done). Another highlight was the train section which includes a display of all the local train stations that once operated in Bruce County.
The ladies enjoyed their bag lunches and a short business meeting followed. President Bev Berndt led in the usual openings, followed by nine members answering the Roll Call: “What did you enjoy about the museum tour?”
Betty Jean White read the minutes of the last meeting and Islay Eby gave the treasurer’s report. The Sunshine and Tweedsmuir reports were given by Sandra MacDonald and Ellen Waye. Ellen also reported briefly on the Federated Women’s Institutes of Ontario (FWIO) newsletter and other provincial events. Several members will attend the Grey Bruce Area Convention in Chepstow, Oct. 3.
Thank you, Brenda, for organizing this special outing to the museum. The meeting closed with the Closing Ode and “God Save the King.”
The next meeting will be held Oct. 2, at 10 a.m., at the Bervie United Church.
