​Bear-sighting on Upper Lorne Beach Road in Municipality of Kincardine

A black bear has been seen in the area of Upper Lorne Beach Road in the Municipality of Kincardine.

Jennifer Brown took a photo of a bear eating the pumpkins on her front porch, Monday evening. Fortunately, her children were in the house getting ready for bed and the bear eventually left with a full belly.

The public is reminded to follow the Bear Wise program tips to help reduce your chances of encountering a bear:
 

• Store garbage in containers with tight lids
• Only put garbage out the day of collection
• Clean outdoor grills after each use, including the grease trap
• Only fill bird feeders during winter months
• Don’t let leave pet food outside
• Pick ripe fruit from trees and bushes
