Karen Seal won $1,500 in the Catch the Ace draw. She chose Envelope No. 49 which contained the 10 of Diamonds. As we head into Week 12, we look forward to seeing the progressive jackpot climb up to $23,000. What a Saturday Meat Draw! We had QUADRUPLE double-dippers! Pauline MacLean, Pierrette Laland, Charlie Samms and Glenn McKenzie all won twice. In the 50/50 draw, Bruce Hedley took home $85.

The October Trivia was a great night with Team Northern Blights coming out on top! A very apropos name, given all the amazing Aurora Borealis photos everyone has been posting lately. Here’s one of the questions from the night so you can check your trivia skills: What is the name of the snake-killing hero described in a story by Rudyard Kipling? (answer is at the end.) The next Trivia Night is Friday, Nov. 8, with guest quizmaster and Bruce Power Citizen of the Year, Todd Thompson! Sign up your teams of eight at the Legion Bar, starting Monday, Oct. 28, at Noon.

More than 100 people attended Saturday’s event, An Evening with Psychic Kelly Elson. It was an interesting night and if you're curious to learn more, ask a friend who was there, for a first-hand account of the experience.

Who’s ready to sing ‘Ein Prosit’ and have some Oktoberfest fun? Tickets are on sale for the Grey Matter Oktoberfest, Friday, Oct. 25, from 6 p.m. to Midnight, at the Legion. Tickets are $30 each and you can get them at Grey Matter and at the Legion Bar, so pick up yours today. This promises to be a great night out with some polka-dancing, German food and beer. Oans, zwoa, drei, g’suffa!
