South Bruce OPP report impaired driver; suspended driver; and Operation Impact results

POLICE ARREST IMPAIRED DRIVER

(SAUGEEN SHORES, ON) - Oct. 17, at 9:56 p.m., a member of the West Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement team was on patrol and stopped a vehicle along Bruce County Road 40, in the Town of Saugeen Shores.

As a result of the interaction, police arrested the driver for impaired driving.

Craig FLOOD, 36, of the Township of Georgian Bluffs was charged with Operation while impaired - blood-alcohol concentration (80-plus).

SUSPENDED DRIVER ARRESTED

(ARRAN-ELDERSLIE, ON) - Oct. 12, at approximately 3:20 a.m., a member of the South Bruce OPP was on patrol along 1st Avenue South in the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie, and attempted to stop a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle fled on foot, but was arrested shortly thereafter.

As a result of the investigation, Farouk SULEMANA, 32, of Arran-Elderslie, has been charged with the following offences:
 

• Flight from peace officer, CC 320.17
• Driving while under suspension, HTA 53(1)

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Walkerton Ontario Court of Justice, Nov. 13.

OPERATION IMPACT TRAFFIC CAMPAIGN RESULTS

(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) - Members of the South Bruce OPP participated in the Thanksgiving long weekend traffic campaign, Operation Impact, from Oct. 11-14.

This is an education and enforcement campaign implemented in an effort to increase public compliance with traffic laws, and targets behaviours that place drivers, passengers, and other road-users at risk. The target of this campaign is the "Big Four" which includes distracted driving, impaired driving, speeding/aggressive driving and lack of proper seatbelt use.

Over the long weekend, South Bruce OPP officers conducted approximately 111 traffic stops and issued approximately 103 total charges. Some of the charges included:
 

• Speeding - 67
• Impaired Operation - One
• Seatbelt - One
• Stunt-driving – One

While the campaign has come to a conclusion, the South Bruce OPP continues to dedicate daily efforts to road safety within the communities it serves. How you drive is everyone's business.
