​Kincardine Theatre Guild in rehearsals for “Pirates of Penzance”

The Kincardine Theatre Guild is in rehearsals for the production, “Pirates of Penzance,” which opens Friday, Nov. 15, at the Kincardine Arts Centre.

The show tells the story of Frederic (played by Alex Peroff) who has spent his formative years as a junior pirate under the watch of his beloved nurse, Ruth (played by Liz Coates).

Frederic plans to mark his 21st birthday by breaking free of the Pirate King (played by Dan McGibney) and beginning his courtship of Mabel (played by Brittany McGarvey). However, because he was born Feb. 29, a date that arrives only every fourth year, Frederic isn’t technically 21 – and the Pirate King is still his master.

Unless something gives, Frederic will soon be on a collision course with the Pirate King’s new nemesis, Mabel’s father, the Major General (played by E.B. Michael Austin).

Joining the major players on stage, are the sisters, played by Jenn Peters, Megan Gramigna, Fawn Meyer, Emily Cassidy, Savanah DeLuca, Gabriella Geberdt and Paige Wade; and the pirates/police, played by Ron Boucher, Jared Petrie, Rob Peters, Jameson May, William Luhowy, Milo Petrie, Karen Yun, Kathie Hackney, Caroline Tarsitano, Leslie Wade, Terry Marsh, Steve McGibney, Sid Duggan and Dave Carson.

The play is directed by Christine Mensher, with assistant director Jaki Mayer-Duggan, and choreography by Jesse Lorusso and Graham Banville.

Opening night is Nov. 15 at 7 p.m., and the show runs Nov. 21-23, and 28-30 at 7 p.m., and Nov. 16-17, Nov. 24, and Dec. 1 at 1 p.m.
