Barn fire in Carrick Township causes road closures

(CARRICK TWP, ON) - Nov. 7, just before 8:30 a.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a large barn fire on Concession 2 in Carrick Township.

Officers attended with the fire department and paramedic services.

The investigation revealed that a fire had started inside the barn and spread quickly, fully engulfing the structure. Some cattle, pigs, and sheep were housed in the barn.

According to the farm owner, most of the cattle were removed to safety. Some animals did, however, perish in the blaze.

No injuries to the residents or emergency responders were reported.

The total monetary loss has yet to be determined. The cause of the fire is being treated as non-suspicious.

Road closures were in place but have since been lifted.
