Grey Bruce Minor Curling League holds inaugural event in Kincardine
Several teams took part in the inaugural event of the Grey Bruce Minor Curling League, held Saturday, at the Kincardine Curling Club. This league is loosely affiliated with the Grey Bruce Major League (adults).

Organizers were amazed to see all the youth working hard. It’s obvious there is some real talent in Grey-Bruce.

The opening game was between Port Elgin's Quibell rink and Kincardine's Hunter rink.

Kincardine scored four in the final end to win by one. It’s the first time Kincardine has ever beaten Port Elgin so the players were ecstatic; however, Port Elgin will be seeking the win the next time these two teams meet in December.

The standings after Day 1 (the skip’s last name follows the town name):

“A” Division

  • Kincardine Hunter, 2-0
  • Port Elgin Quibell and Dykstra, 1-1
  • Owen Sound Grimoldby, 1-1
  • Markdale, 1-1
  • Chesley Foxcroft, 0-2

“B” Division

  • Kincardine Court, 2-0
  • Chesley Fee, 0-2

The next events are Dec. 14 in Markdale, and Jan. 18 in Port Elgin.

The minor curling league is looking for a sponsor. If you can help, contact Kincardine coach Peter Newton at pete.newton@gmail.com.
