Bervie W.I. learns about Laughter Yoga
The Bervie Women’s Institute met at the Bervie United Church, Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 10 a.m., with the theme being “Health.”
After the usual openings, president Bev Berndt read “In Flanders Fields.” The Roll Call was answered by 11 members and six visitors with, “One way you could, or do, add laughter to your life.”
Convener Janice Hewitt introduced our guest speaker, Lynn Stevenson, who led us through a variety of exercises of Laughter Yoga. She explained the benefits of Laughter Yoga and why it is a healthy exercise. Janice thanked Lynn and presented her with a gift.
Betty Jean White read the minutes of the last meeting and Islay Eby gave the treasurer’s report. A motion was made to pay the bills. Sandra MacDonald gave the Sunshine Report, and Ellen Waye reported on a number of Federated Women’s Institutes of Ontario (FWIO) details. Ellen also presented reports on both the Grey Bruce Area Convention and the Bruce County District Rally, both of which were held in October.
A donation will be made to the Erland Lee (Museum) Home in memory of Carol Cooper’s partner, Gary Valad, who died recently. A donation will also be made to the Paddy Walker Heritage Society in Kincardine. A thank you note was received from fellow W.I. member, Elsie Schular.
The meeting closed with the Closing Ode and the singing of “The King.”
The next meeting will be at the church, Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 10 a.m., followed by a potluck Christmas lunch.
