​Sybil Straker, formerly of Kincardine, dies at the age of 88

Sybil Straker (née Rollings), formerly of Kincardine, died in Sarnia, Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024, at the age of 88.

She leaves behind her daughter, Gail; son, Doug; daughter-in-law, Denise; 12 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Sybil was born in Toronto in 1935 and during her lifetime, moved several times with her second husband, Tony Straker, to such towns as Orangeville, Belgrave, Wingham, and finally settling in Kincardine.

She was a member of the Kincardine Legion and had membership at both St. Anthony's Catholic Church and Grace Lutheran Church.

Sybil will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and volunteer work for organizations, such as the Day Away Program and at Trillium Court where she spent a year as a resident.

A funeral service to honour Sybil's life will be held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine, in the spring of 2025.

Memorial donations to the Canadian Red Cross Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
