Ripley Wolves suffer two losses on the weekend
The Ripley Wolves lost two road games to teams they’re chasing in the standings on the weekend.
 

Friday night, the Wolves travelled to Durham but struggled to kill penalties, giving up three powerplay goals and losing 6-4. Wolves goals were scored by Cody Britton (2), Brett Catto and Drew Davidson. Assists went to Catto (3), Davidson, Britton and Tyler McCarthy (2).
 

Jamie Bayley stopped 27 shots in the loss.
 

Saturday, the Wolves travelled to Drayton to face the first-place Mapleton-Minto 81s. Kurt Edwards got the start for the Wolves and faced a barrage of shots from the league leaders, while his offence couldn’t muster much in the way of pressure. The score finished 5-0 for the league leaders.
 

The Wolves welcome the rival Lucknow Lancers Friday night, Dec. 18, at 8:30 p.m. Game sponsor is Lippert Trucking. Ripley then travels to Port Elgin, Saturday, for an 8 p.m. game against the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks with whom the Wolves are battling for fourth place in the standings.


In previous outings, the Wolves lost, 5-4, to Shallow Lake, Dec. 4, before defeating Shelburne, 4-3, Dec. 5.

On the Friday night, the Wolves jumped out to a two-goal lead before giving up four straight goals in the last 11:35 of the second period. They showed big heart by battling back in the third with two goals to force overtime.
 

Goals were scored by Drew Davidson, Brett Catto, Brian Stanley and Cody Britton. Assists went to Catto (2), Stanley, Tyler deVos (2), Ryan Dudgeon, Britton and Davidson.
 

Mitch Campbell was excellent in the Wolves net, stopping 50 shots before the Crushers scored the overtime winner.
 

On the Saturday, Ripley welcomed Shelburne and handed the visitors a 4-3 loss.
 

Britton and Paul Stewart put the Wolves up 2-1 after one period, with assists going to Catto (2), Stanley, and Britton. The Wolves took a 3-2 lead into the third on a Jarred Colling goal, assisted by Ryan Armstrong and Tyson Soers. Brett Catto cemented the win with an unassisted powerplay goal early in the third.
 

Jamie Bayley got the win in the Wolves net.
 

Nov. 28, the Wolves travelled to Lucknow and defeated the Lancers, 6-4. Scoring for the Wolves were Ryan Fry, Britton, Davidson, Tyler McCarthy, Armstrong and Stanley, into an empty net. Assists went to Dudgeon, David Jones, Catto (3), Dylan Sayle (2), Corey McCrae and Davidson.
 

Mitch Campbell got the win in the Wolves net.
 

The Ripley Wolves lost 4-3 to Durham Nov. 21. Goals were scored by Tyler deVos, Tyler McCarthy and Cody Britton. Assists went to Ryan Armstrong (2), Tyson Soers, Brett Catto and Britton.
 

Mitch Campbell stopped 26 shots in the loss.
