Bruce County Public Library brings back popular Valentines for Seniors program
The Bruce County Public Library invites the community to join hearts for its Valentines for Seniors program, running now to Feb. 7.
This heartwarming initiative helps spread connection by encouraging patrons and the public to create handmade Valentine’s Day cards for seniors in local care homes.
Participants have the option to attend a scheduled staff-led program to create cards, drop into any of the library branches including the Bookmobile, to use provided supplies, or pick up a take-home craft bag to make cards at home and return them to a branch.
This year’s programs include a special P.A. Day event for children, ages five to 12, offering young creators the chance to make a difference while having fun with friends.
Since its launch in 2022, the Valentines for Seniors program has grown into a cherished tradition. In 2024, an incredible 1,058 cards were made by 680 participants and delivered to local seniors, spreading joy.
“This program is about more than just making cards; it’s about reminding our seniors that they’re cared for and valued,” said program co-ordinator Nancy Kuhl. “Every card carries a heartfelt message of kindness that can brighten someone’s day.”
