Ripley Medical and Child-Care Centre officially opens
The Township of Huron-Kinloss has announced that the newly-renovated Ripley Medical and Child-Care Centre has officially opened.

The facility, developed in partnership with the Kincardine Family Health Team, Dr. Jason Murray, the YMCA of Owen Sound Grey-Bruce, the County of Bruce, the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO), and the Province of Ontario, is now fully-operational and ready to serve the community.

This newly-enhanced facility will address critical needs, by offering additional licensed child-care spaces and revitalized medical services for Ripley and the surrounding area.

“The grand opening of the Ripley Medical and Child-Care Centre represents a pivotal moment for our community,” said Huron-Kinloss mayor Don Murray. “It reinforces our commitment to accessible health care and quality child-care options for our residents.

“With these renovations, we’re proud to welcome back Dr. Jason Murray and the Kincardine Family Health Team, and to provide much-needed support for local families. This is a shining example of collaboration at its best, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved together.”

The centre will provide a variety of essential services. Murray will begin treating his patients at the Ripley Medical Centre on Fridays, and the Kincardine Family Health Team will operate the unattached patient clinic at the medical centre on Mondays and Thursdays. This clinic serves individuals without a local family physician.

In addition, a variety of family health team programs and inter-disciplinary providers will visit weekly, including:

  • Midwife
  • Occupational Therapist
  • Dietitian
  • Kinesiologist
  • Registered Nurse

Appointments can be made by calling 519-396-2700. Services are available by appointment only, with no walk-in or same-day options. For more information about the family health team services, visit kincardinefht.ca.

The YMCA of Owen Sound Grey-Bruce re-opened its updated licensed child-care services, Sept. 4, featuring a re-imagined floor plan with brighter, more spacious rooms.

The improved facility now accommodates 15 toddlers and 24 pre-schoolers, increasing its previous capacity of 10 toddlers and 16 pre-schoolers, while continuing to provide safe, affordable, and accessible child care for families.

The renovations were made possible with financial contributions from the NWMO Near-Term Investment Fund, the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child-Care Start-up Grant, Miller Insurance and the Community Well-Being Reserve Fund. This partnership-driven initiative exemplifies the collective commitment to enhancing the quality of life for Huron-Kinloss residents.
