Former Kincardine restaurant owner, Bill Plagos, dies at the age of 86
Vasileios (Bill) Plagos, formerly of Kincardine, died at the Laconia General Hospital in Sparta, Greece, Nov. 26, 2024, at the age of 86.
Born in Anogeia, Greece, Aug. 6, 1938, he was the son of the late Georgios Plagos and Kali Plagos. He was predeceased by his sisters, Livia (Linda) and Anastasia (Tasia); brother-in-law, Yianni (John); and parents-in-law, Vasileios (Bill) and Evangelia (Eva).
After immigrating to Canada in 1954, Bill met and married his wife of 65 years, Polyxeni (Pauline) Theofilopoulos. They lived and worked in London, before moving to Kincardine, in 1980 where they owned and operated the Embassy Restaurant for 27 years.
Survived by his sons, George (Pamela) of Kincardine, and Angelo (Rhonda) of London.
Loved and missed by his grandchildren, Nicholas (Rachel), Andrea (Lucas), Brandon, Cassidy, Christopher and Charissa; and great-grandchildren, Nolan and Olive.
A funeral was held in Kaminia, Greece, Nov. 29, 2024.
The 40-day Trisagion service was held Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025, at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 131 Southdale Road West, London, Ontario.
