Joyce MacKay of Kincardine remembered for her beautiful smile and zest for life
Joyce Martha MacKay (nee Guikema) of Kincardine died peacefully, at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Kincardine, Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025, at the age of 68.
Beloved wife of David MacKay.
Loving mother of Jasmine Farrell, Adam (Ben) and Jason (Kristen).
Grandma of Deter Nowak.
Dear sister of Connie Ross (Mort Needham) and the late Elizabeth Welch, Paul and Marilyn.
Predeceased by her parents, Anco and Lila Guikema.
Joyce was perfectly named, as she was the joy of our lives and to everyone who knew her.
She had a beautiful smile that lit up the room. Her zest for life and love of people was incomparable. She would often appear with a gift, hug, and a good story.
Born and raised on the farm, she was a strong Bruce County girl. Her favourite pass-times were going to the beach, scratching lotto tickets, and playing yahtzee and bingo.
She started bingo at our Legion in 1972. She said back then, daubers and chips didn't exist, so they used pennies or kernels of corn.
Joyce loved to fully embrace all special occasions with decorations, parties, and tons of fun. Her most favourite things were spending time with family and friends. She was always up for a good time.
She will be deeply missed, but we will carry her spirit with us forever.
A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held at a later date.
