​Huron County OPP report several charges against trucker; and domestic violence incident

TRAFFIC STOP NETS SEVERAL CHARGES AGAINST TRUCK DRIVER

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH TOWNSHIP, ON) - The Huron County OPP has charged a commercial truck driver and the trucking company that owns the vehicle, following a traffic stop in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township.

Just before 1 p.m., Feb. 5, Huron County OPP officers were patrolling on Lucknow Line in the township, when the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) equipment in the cruiser alerted the officer to the licence plate of a passing commercial motor vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted and officers spoke to the driver, discovering further infractions.

The 53-year-old driver of Brampton has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act as follows:
 

• Driving While Under Suspension
• Use Plate not Authorized for Vehicle
• Fail to Maintain Daily Log
• Operate Commercial Motor Vehicle - no valid CVOR
• Operate Commercial Motor Vehicle - no validated Permit
• Fail to Have Insurance Card
• Fail to Surrender Permit for Trailer

The trucking company, also based in Brampton, was charged with the following offences:
 

• Permit Use of Plate Not Authorized
• Operate Commercial Motor Vehicle - no validated Permit

The involved vehicle was towed from the scene.

The accused parties now face a court appearance scheduled at the Provincial Offences Court - Goderich. 

INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE INVESTIGATION RESULTS IN CHARGE

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH TWP, ON) - Jan. 31, members of the Huron County OPP investigated a matter involving intimate partners in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township.

As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that the involved suspect had allegedly committed a criminal act against the partner.

A 26-year-old individual of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with the following offence: Assault – Spousal.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court date scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich, March 3.
