Ripley Wolves in third place after big two-win weekend

The Ripley Wolves finished off a big weekend, blanking Lucknow Friday night, Dec. 18, and edging Saugeen Shores Saturday night, Dec. 19.

The two-win weekend leap-frogged the Wolves over Saugeen Shores and Shallow Lake and into third place in the North Division with 17 points. Facing a difficult January schedule, these were two huge wins for the locals.

Goalie Jamie Bayley got the first shut-out of his Senior A career as the Ripley Wolves nabbed took a 5-0 win over the Lancers at the Ripley Arena Friday night.

Goals were scored by Shawn Stewart, Brett Catto (2), Jeremy McQuillin and Cody Britton. Assists went to Ryan Armstrong, Jarred Colling, Britton (2), Tyler McCarthy (2), Drew Davidson (2), Brian Stanley and Dustin Catto.

Saturday night in Port Elgin, Ripley's Cody Britton led the way with a hat-trick in the win between the teams battling for fourth in the North Division standings. The Wolves scored three in the third – the winner by Brett Catto with less than two minutes remaining – after Ryan Armstrong tied it with five minutes left on the clock.

Assists went to Catto (3), Paul Stewart, Drew Davidson (2), Tyler McCarthy, Tyler deVos, Jeremy McQuillin and Britton.

Kurt Edwards faced 43 shots in the win.

The Wolves are now off until 2016, when they travel to Lucknow Saturday, Jan. 2, for a 7:30 p.m. start, followed by a rare Sunday afternoon (Jan. 3) home game against the Mapleton-Minto 81s. That match will feature the Ripley Tykes between periods, so don’t miss it!
