​Township considers parking restrictions on Boiler Beach Road

Huron-Kinloss council is considering the implementation of parking restrictions on portions of Boiler Beach Road.

Public works director John Yungblut brought a report to council in committee-of-the-whole, May 5, outlining areas along the west side of the roadway that would be deemed “No Parking” zones (see the map below).

These changes aim to improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers during the busy summer season, particularly where vehicles currently cannot park without impeding the travelled lane.

Approximately 1,950 metres would be designated as no-parking areas, while 1,700 metres would remain available for parking, said Yungblut. Signage would be installed this summer, and staff would continue to monitor the area for any further required adjustments.

Committee-of-the-whole endorsed the recommendation to add “No Parking” zones, and staff is putting together an update to the traffic and parking bylaw, including the addition of the appropriate signage at the roadside, which would implement these changes.

The amended bylaw is expected to come to council for consideration at the June 16 meeting.
