​Kincardine to hold public meeting about area-specific development charges on Gary Street lands

The Municipality of Kincardine will be holding a public meeting, Wednesday, June 11, pursuant to The Development Charges Act, 1997, regarding proposed area-specific development charge rates and policies for the Gary Street (formally the Ontario Peninsula Farm) lands.

It is proposed that enactment of an area-specific development charges bylaw by council would occur on a date subsequent to the public meeting.

Development charges are levied against new development, and are a primary source of funding for growth-related capital expenditures. The 2025 Area-Specific Development Charges Background Study for the Gary Street lands relates to the provision of area-specific services, such as services related to a highway: roads and related, storm water, sanitary sewer, and watermains.

Council is required under The Development Charges Act, 1997, to hold at least one public meeting to allow the public the opportunity to review and provide comments on the 2025 Area-Specific Development Charges Background Study, related staff reports and the proposed development charges bylaw.

All interested parties are invited to attend the public meeting, Wednesday, June 11, at 5 p.m., in the council chamber, 1475 Concession 5, RR 5, Kincardine, Ontario.

Any person may attend the public meeting and make written or verbal representation either in support of, or in opposition to, the bylaw.

Written submissions are invited and should be directed to Jennifer Lawrie, Manager of Legislative Services/Clerk no later than 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 10. Written comments received prior to the meeting and submissions made at the public meeting will be considered by council prior to the enactment of a new development charges bylaw.
