Build now, build bold, says Kincardine resident

Build now, build bold, says Kincardine resident
The new high school in Kincardine should be built on the activity field at the present location of Kincardine District Senior School, for the following reasons:

  1. The property is owned by the Bluewater District School Board.
  2. There is an activity field at the Davidson Centre.
  3. The money savings could go into the school not into the land development corporations.
  4. The school could be designed with accommodation for school bus and private drop-off of students.
  5. The people who are currently in charge need a paradigm shift. Stop saying the property is not suitable for building: it has been a school for probably 100 years!
  6. The new school could be attached to the old school to make a larger complex which can be used by all ages.
  7. If you need help with the design concept, let me know.

Many people in Kincardine are concerned about the proposed location of the new high school on Millennium Way near Highway 21. A school for approximately 881 students should be in a location that prioritizes student safety, easy access, walking and cycling, and safe traffic movement. The proposed site raises concerns about Highway 21 traffic, congestion, school buses, student drop-off and pick-up, and pedestrian safety. We all support a new school for Kincardine—but we also believe it must be built in the right location, which should be on the west side of Highway 21. The community deserves a transparent review of all safety and traffic concerns before the site is finalized.
