Huron County OPP report impaired driver; and officers assaulted

CONCERNED CITIZEN ALERTS POLICE TO IMPAIRED DRIVER

(GODERICH, ON) - The Huron County OPP has charged a Goderich resident with criminal driving offences, following a traffic complaint in the Town of Goderich.

Sunday, Aug. 17, just after 2:30 p.m., Huron County OPP officers responded to a complaint from a concerned citizen that a motorist might be driving impaired in Goderich. The driver was located shortly after by police and arrested for impaired operation.

The driver was transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton and provided breath samples before a qualified Intoxilizer Breath Technician. Breath samples were provided to police which resulted in readings over three times the legal limit.

As a result of the investigation, Johannes VANEEKEN, 50, of Goderich has been charged with:
 

• Impaired Operation - Alcohol and Drug
• Impaired Operation - Over-80

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

OFFICERS ASSAULTED AND THREATENED AFTER DISTURBANCE CALL

(GODERICH, ON) - The Huron County OPP has charged a Goderich resident, following an incident that took place in the Town of Goderich.

Aug. 18, just before 3 p.m., police were contacted to investigate a disturbance on Balvina Drive in Goderich. Police attended and located an individual who was confrontational with police, and uttered threats. The accused resisted arrest and assaulted the officers but was eventually taken into custody.

Dawnalee MOORE, 36, of Goderich has been charged with:
 

• Assault a Peace Officer - (three counts)
• Obstruct Peace Officer
• Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm - (three counts)
• Mischief Under $5,000
• Resist Peace Officer

The accused was processed, held for a bail hearing, and later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich, Oct. 6.
