Ripley Wolves win season opener, 5-2, against Georgian Bay
The Ripley Wolves kicked off their season with a tidy 5-2 win over the visiting Georgian Bay Applekings.
Defenceman Dawson Fahrer scored the first two for the Wolves within the first five minutes of play, and Garrett Meurs iced it with a hat-trick over the second and third periods, including an empty-netter.
Assists on Fahrer's goals went to rookie Carter Servais, Taylor Woolcott and Ethan Skinner. Helpers on the Meurs goals were Cody Britton (2), Kaden Hoggarth, Skinner, and Jordan Moulton who was playing his first regular season game for the Wolves after debuting in the Ontario Elite Hockey League (OEHL) semi-finals last season.
Goalie Garrett Golley got the start in the Wolves net and stopped 34 of 36 shots for the win.
