All roads re-opened after five-day blizzard in Kincardine area
All roads in the Kincardine area were re-opened late Friday night (Jan. 2), after the five-day blizzard that began Monday afternoon (Dec. 29).
Highway 21, from Kincardine to Amberley, was finally opened at 10:30 p.m., while Bruce County Road 7, from Ripley to Highway 9, was also re-opened Friday.
Originally, Highway 21, from Port Elgin to Amberley, and Highway 9, from Kincardine to Walkerton, along with several Bruce County roads, were closed when a major snowstorm hit Monday afternoon. They were re-opened briefly Tuesday and early Wednesday, but closed again Wednesday night due to blowing and drifting snow, and poor driving conditions.
The cold and snow will continue through Sunday, with warmer weather and rain set to arrive next week.
