South Bruce OPP report hit-and-run; impaired drivers; and dog-bite incident
POLICE SEEK WITNESS TO FAIL-TO-REMAIN COLLISION
(BROCKTON, ON) - Jan. 4, the South Bruce OPP received the report of a damaged sign along Yonge Street South in Walkerton.
Sometime overnight, a vehicle struck an electronic sign at a business property in the area of Yonge Street South and Second Street. The vehicle did not remain and the driver did not notify police.
If you witnessed this incident, or have camera footage available from overnight Jan. 3-4, contact police.
BRAMPTON DRIVER ARRESTED AFTER COLLISION
(KINCARDINE, ON) - Jan. 4, at approximately 11:35 a.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a motor vehicle collision on Highway 9 in the Municipality of Kincardine.
Police attended the location and discovered a collision involving three vehicles. One of the involved vehicles had crossed the centre line into the path of oncoming traffic. After speaking with that driver, the investigating officer detected signs of impairment. The driver was placed under arrest and taken to a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) for further testing. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries as a result of the collision.
Mohammad ARSH, 21, of Brampton, was charged with Operation while impaired, CC 320.14(1)(a).
The accused is set to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, Walkerton, Feb. 18, to answer to the charge.
TWO INJURED AFTER DOG-BITE INCIDENT
(KINCARDINE, ON) - Jan. 6, at 8:31 a.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a dog bite at a residence along Kincardine-Kinloss Townline in the Municipality of Kincardine.
Police attended the location with Bruce County Paramedic Services and located two individuals who had sustained bites from a dog who was owned by one of the involved people. They were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The dog has been contained, and animal control is assisting with the matter.
The South Bruce OPP reminds all dog owners to be familiar with the Dog Owners Liability Act. Under this act, the owner of a dog shall exercise reasonable precautions to prevent it from biting or attacking a person or domestic animal; or from behaving in a manner that poses a menace to the safety of the public.
Further, the owner of a dog could be liable if the dog bites or attacks another person or domestic animal. Ensure that you are able to maintain control of your dog at all times in order to prevent any potential injuries to others or to the dog, itself.
POLICE NOTIFIED OF IMPAIRED DRIVER
(KINCARDINE, ON) - Jan. 6, at 6:21 a.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a suspected impaired driver entering a business property along Tie Road in the Municipality of Kincardine.
Police attended the location and found the vehicle in question. The investigating officer spoke with the driver and detected signs of impairment. The driver was taken into custody and transported for further testing.
Cory GALE, 47, of Repentigny, Quebec, was charged with Operation while impaired - B.A.C. 80-plus, CC 320.14(1)(b)
The accused is set to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, Walkerton, Feb. 18, to answer to the charge.
