St. John Ambulance therapy dogs to visit Bruce County Library branches
As high school exam season approaches, staff at the Bruce County Public Library is pleased to welcome St. John Ambulance therapy dogs to several branches to help students relax and prepare for these exams.
From Jan. 13-27 therapy dog teams will visit the library branches in Kincardine, Port Elgin, Walkerton and Wiarton. These friendly and supportive dogs provide comfort and stress relief during what can be a challenging and high-pressure time for teens.
The visiting dogs are part of a therapy dog program that aims to bring comfort and support to people in schools, libraries, hospitals, and community spaces. Learn more about the therapy dog program at

In addition, during the week of Jan. 26-30, the library will offer study-friendly hot chocolate bars for teens.
“All of these activities are free, and our way of supporting local teens during a potentially stressful time," says library director Brooke McLean. "Whether it's spending a few quiet moments with a therapy dog or settling in with a warm drink to study, we want teens to know the library is there for them."
With winter weather bringing more snow days and remote learning, staff also encourages students to keep the library in mind as a quiet, warm place to access on-line classes, with access to free WiFi available at all 17 branches.
Information about specific dates and times for therapy dog visits, is available on-line at
