Highway 21 in Kincardine area re-opens Sunday morning
Highway 21 in the Kincardine area finally re-opened Sunday morning (Feb. 8) after being closed Friday night, due to blowing and drifting snow and poor-to-nil visibility, as well as vehicles stuck on the roadway.
The extreme wind and heavy snow blew in Friday, and Highway 21, from Amberley to Port Elgin, was closed by 5:30 p.m., followed by Highway 9, from Kincardine to Walkerton; Bruce County Road 23, from Lorne Beach to Bruce County Road 20, and several other county roads.
By Saturday afternoon, all roads were open except Highway 21.
Saturday, at about 10 p.m., Highway 21, from Tiverton to Port Elgin, had been re-opened, while the section from Tiverton to Amberley remained closed.
As of 2:52 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 8, the South Bruce OPP reported that Highway 21 was open from Amberley to Kincardine, but the section from Kincardine to Tiverton remained closed.
Finally, by 6:32 a.m., Sunday, all of Highway 21 had been re-opened.
