Municipality urged to support 2028 Kincardine Reunion in future decisions
The Municipality of Kincardine is being urged to support the 2028 Kincardine Reunion.

Chairperson Tracy Primeau came to the council meeting Wednesday night (Feb. 11), asking the municipality to support the reunion in future council decisions and priorities, and to offer thanks for the financial support already committed.

She told council that the event will run Aug. 3-7, 2028, with the slogan, "Leading Us Home," which reflects the Kincardine Lighthouse that guides us back to the lake Huron shore we never forget, and the small-town spirit that always brings us home. The winner of the slogan contest was Payton Dunlop.

"Why 'Leading Us Home?' said Primeau. "Because no matter how far we go, Kincardine has always been the place that calls us back. Inspired by our lighthouse, our shoreline and the people who make this town home, this reunion is about returning, reconnecting and remembering where we come from."

Along with the slogan, a the Kincardine Reunion also features a new logo, designed by Alicia Riley Design.

Primeau said the reunion kick-off was held Sept. 28, featuring "Madison Violet," and more than 200 tickets were sold.

The committee also met with the Ripley Reunion committee and chairman Matt Farrell, and has benefited from the lessons learned from that event held last summer.

The next event, said Primeau, is "A Long Time Running: Kincardine Reunion Concert," June 13, at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine, featuring the "Practically Hip" and hopefully, "Local Anesthesia."

She noted that the goal is to make a substantial donation to the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation for the Kincardine Hospital redevelopment project, through proceeds from the 2028 reunion.

Primeau again thanked council for the financial support for the event.

"You're welcome," said councillor Bill Stewart. "Is there going to be a shirt-tail parade?"

"Not officially," said Primeau, "but there will be a shirt-tail dance."
