Ripley Wolves sweep Shelburne in first round of OEHL playoffs

The Ripley Wolves completed a first-round sweep of the Shelburne Muskies, with a 12-7 win on the road, Friday, and a 3-2 win on home ice, Saturday.

Friday night, the goals poured in for both sides, though the Wolves managed to keep distance between their opponents all night on their way to the 12-7 win.

Kaden Hoggarth had a hat-trick, while Carter Servais had two goals, and Wilson Shipp, J.D. Falconer, Dawson Fahrer, Tyson Soers, Dan Nicoloff, Ethan Skinner, and Christian Monachino all had singles.

Assists went to Falconer (3), Pat Looby (2), Servais (2), Hoggarth (2), Skinner (2), Logan Swanton, Derek Skinner, Matthew Murray, Monachino, and Fahrer.

Wolves goalie Garrett Golley stopped 32 of 39 shots for the win.

Saturday night, at the Ripley Arena, the Wolves looked to close out the series on home ice and managed to do that with a tight 3-2 win.

Craig McKague, Cody Britton and Monachino scored for the Wolves on their way to the series-closing win. Assists went to Jordan Beisel, Garrett Meurs, Hoggarth, Falconer and Servais.

Goalie Jason Hamilton clinched the win in the Wolves net.

The Wolves will now face Durham in the second round – a really tough draw, as the Thundercats were fighting for second overall through the last weekend of the regular season. Game times to be determined so watch the Wolves' Instagram, Facebook and website for details as they become available.
