Kincardine Legion Corner
Thanks to all our new Legion members who came out to the New Member Meet and Greet, Saturday. It was a pleasure to chat with you all and give you a tour of our beautiful building. With many community members taking advantage of the free Centenary Legion Membership offer for 2026, we will plan to hold another open house in the coming months. So far in 2026, we have had more than 200 new members join our Branch, which is truly amazing. New members, don’t forget to check the MemberPerks website, and explore all the offers and deals that are available to Legion members. We have a video on our Facebook page showing some of the benefits of MemberPerks, from travel to TVs, and so much more. Be sure to check it out.

After the Meet and Greet, we rolled right into the Saturday Meat Draw, and once again this week, we had eight different prize winners with no double-dippers. It seemed as if we had some brand new names on the board this week, so I hope that means some of our new members were able to take home a prize. Congratulations to Bruce Hedley who won the 50/50 draw and took home a cash prize of $246.

Thanks also to all the brave early-risers who came to the Legion, Sunday morning, to cheer on our Canadian men's hockey team at the Olympics. Although we didn’t get the result we wanted, it was fun to gather and share some snacks, drinks and groans at those missed opportunities. Kudos to president Teri Leslie who ran the bar that morning and kept us hydrated.

We are really getting close to March now, so you need to be sure to get your tickets to our St. Paddy’s Day Dinner and Dance at the Legion, Saturday, March 14, before it’s too late. Tickets are only $20 each, which includes the dancing and the music, played by Left Turn Clyde. For dinner, you will have a choice of Irish stew or Shepherd’s pie with a dessert of Bailey’s cheesecake or Guinness chocolate cake.

Looking ahead to April, we have The Mudmen here, Saturday, April 25. Tickets for this event are already on sale at the Legion Bar, and are $35 each.

May 9, we will be having another Mega Meat Draw, and HWY 19 will be back to play some great music.

To wrap up, we are still making progress and checking off steps toward launching the new Kin Cares 50/50 draw. The website is coming along, and while it’s hard to know 100 per cent, things are looking hopeful for an April start. We will begin doing some intro teaser posts from the Legion and from the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation, which will be posted on the Kin Cares 50/50 Facebook page, and Instagram account, so be sure to follow. Both groups are super excited to get this going and make our tag line a reality - Win Big. Give Back Bigger!

  • Sunday, March 22 - Family Dinner from 5-6:30 p.m. - Smoked pork chops and scalloped potatoes.
