Valentine's theme at Bervie Women's Institute meeting

February 4, 2016

Valentine’s was the theme when the Bervie Women's Institute met Wednesday, Feb. 3, at 10 a.m. at the Bervie United Church.

Islay Eby read a poem, “This is Love,” followed by the usual openings. Eleven members answered the roll call, “Where did you go on your first date?”

The Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre in Southampton is having a Family Day event, Feb. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Our Quincy books, teddy bears and blankets will be presented later this month to the South Bruce OPP and Kincardine Fire Department. These are to be presented to children who are impacted by an accident or a fire.

Donations will be made to the Kincardine and Tiverton fall fairs. A memorial donation will be sent to the Erland Lee Home in memory of Vi Thompson’s husband, Alvin. Meeting ideas for this coming year are to be given to Dianne Wilson and Betty Jean White.

Our convener, Betty Ann Thompson, read a Valentine’s poem and everyone did a Valentine’s word search. Betty Ann then did a travelogue of the trip she and Brian took, last November, to the Sydney and Brisbane area of Australia and the south island of New Zealand. They toured with Brian’s sister, Joyce, and family in Australia – a very interesting presentation.

The next meeting will be at Betty Jean White’s home, March 2 at 7:30 p.m. – please bring your husbands along to this meeting. Thanks to Betty Ann Thompson for the nice lunch.
