Kincardine encourages everyone to join in Earth Week activities
Join the Municipality of Kincardine in celebrating Earth Week, April 18-27, with a variety of community-led environmental activities and events taking place across the municipality.
From shoreline clean-ups and tree-planting to guided nature walks and hands-on activities, there are plenty of ways to get involved and make a positive impact.
CLEAN WHEN YOU CAN
Clean-up kits will be available to reserve from April 20-26 for individuals or groups planning their own clean-up activities. Kits include buckets, gloves, pickers, garbage bags, and a garbage drop-off map. To reserve a kit, call 519-396-3491 or send an E-mail message to
recreation@kincardine.ca. Kits can be picked up and dropped off at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine.

Saugeen Habitat Collective Tree Planting - April 18, at 10 a.m.
Join the
Saugeen Habitat Collective for a tree-planting at Kin-Bruce Park in Huron-Kinloss Township. Volunteers are encouraged to bring a shovel, gloves, and sturdy footwear. Lunch will be provided!
Repair Café - April 18, from 1-3 p.m.
Have something that needs fixing? Visit the Kincardine Beach Pavilion where volunteer fixers will help repair household items and give them new life. This event is put on by the
Kincardine Environmental Action Network (KEAN). For more information, contact

Community Clean-Up – Station Beach, Kincardine - April 19, from 2-3 p.m.
Join KEAN for a shoreline clean-up at Station Beach, Kincardine. Buckets, grabbers, and gloves provided.
Earth Day Movie and Popcorn - April 22, from 6-7 p.m.
Head to the Huron Room at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine, for a family-friendly Earth Day film – "The Extraordinary Caterpillar." Popcorn included!
Earth Day Seedling Swap - April 22, at 7 p.m.
Bring your seedlings and swap with others in the Penetangore Room at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine. To register, contact

City Nature Challenge - April 24-27
Join this global bio-diversity event by exploring the Municipality of Kincardine and documenting local wildlife using the iNaturalist app. Simply create an account, take photos or record sounds of wild plants and animals anywhere in the community, and upload your observations to contribute to a worldwide project. No experience is needed! Experts will help you identify what you find.
Huron Bruce Nature will host guided walks, April 25 and 26, for those looking to learn more while they explore (see below) Link to participate in City Nature Challenge:

- Wildflower Walk – Guided by Huron Bruce Nature - April 25, from 2-4 p.m. - Take a guided walk at Stoney Island Conservation Area and explore local wildflowers and natural spaces. Meet in the parking lot. Participants should wear sturdy footwear and dress appropriately for weather conditions. Walking sticks are often a good idea. Please note, this is an opportunity to participate in the City Nature Challenge.
- Birding Walk – Guided by Huron Bruce Nature - April 26, from 9-11 a.m. - Discover local bird species at the Kincardine lagoons with a guided group walk. Meet near the parking area of the Bruce Avenue soccer fields/dog park. Dress appropriately and bring binoculars. This walk will last one to two hours. Please note, this is an opportunity to participate in the City Nature Challenge.
Saugeen Habitat Collective Tree-Planting (Off-Leash Dog Park) - April 27, at 10 a.m.
Another opportunity to support local tree-planting efforts, this time at the off-leash dog park off Bruce Avenue, Kincardine. Volunteers are encouraged to bring a shovel, gloves and sturdy footwear. Lunch provided!
Whether you join a planned event or organize your own clean-up, every effort helps keep the community healthy, vibrant, and connected to nature.
If you would like to support sustainability efforts at local events this summer, consider volunteering with the municipality’s new Green Team. This team will help with recycling and compost stations, bike parking, reusable water refill stations and more.
