Alex Stewart of Kincardine remembered for his love of family and farming
Alexander "Alex" John Stewart of Kincardine died peacefully, surrounded by family, at Rosewood RVilla in Ripley, May 5, 2026, in his 88th year.
Cherished husband of Edna Stewart (nee Robertson) for 68 years, and devoted father of Karen (Dave) Kotva, Kevin (Joanne) Stewart and Douglas (Leslie) Stewart.
Doting grandfather of Carolyn Kotva (Ryan Henshaw), Heather Kotva (Sean Van Beers), Julie Stewart, Paul (Kiley) Stewart, Shawn (Sarah) Stewart, Hayley (Jamie) Bailey, Kayla Stewart, Adam Stewart (Alona Thielen), and Laura Stewart; and deeply missed by 11 great-grandchildren.
Born July 2, 1938, in Kincardine, he is predeceased by his parents, Alexander "Rex" Stewart and Mary MacDonald; as well as his brother, Donald "Danny" (Eileen) Stewart; and sisters, Alda (Albert) Mortison, and Margaret (Albert) Gulliver.
In his working life, Alex was a dedicated dairy farmer. He embodied strength and resilience, with a craft rooted in care - for his animals, his land, and the generations who depended on him.
He embraced life fully, never missing a chance to gather with friends and family, explore new destinations around the world, and stay closely connected to the lives of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
His memory will live on in the love of his family, the stories shared around him, and the many lives he shaped through a lifetime of care and dedication.
Friends and relatives are invited to a celebration of life, Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 1-4 p.m., at the Royal Canadian Legion, Kincardine.
Private interment, Kincardine Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation and to the Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario, would be appreciated by the family; arrangements entrusted to the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine.
