​Canada Road Safety Week begins with stunt-driving charge in Kincardine
(KINCARDINE, ON) - The South Bruce OPP is participating in the Canada Road Safety Week and has already stopped one stunt driver.

Wednesday, May 13, at 8:33 p.m., South Bruce OPP members were conducting proactive patrols along Highway 21 in the Municipality of Kincardine when a vehicle was observed travelling at approximately 121 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone.

The vehicle was stopped, and the driver, a 40-year-old from Toronto, was charged with Drive motor vehicle - perform stunt.

A 30-day driver's licence suspension and a 14-day vehicle impoundment were initiated, with the driver facing a future court date.

Canada Road Safety Week runs from May 12-18, and is a provincial initiative designed to increase public awareness and compliance with safe driving practices, specifically targeting the "Big Four" factors related in death and injuries on our highways, trails, and waterways.

Impaired driving, distracted driving/speed, seatbelt use, and inattentive driving remain the primary causes.
