Community Foundation Grey Bruce awards more than $215,000 in grants this spring

Community Foundation Grey Bruce has announced the recipients of its 2026 Spring Community Grants program. This year, $215,275 was awarded to 52 charitable and community-based projects across Grey and Bruce counties.

Interest in the program continues to grow in 2026, with the foundation receiving 75 applications requesting a combined $320,194.46 in funding. The strong response reflects both the growing needs within the region and the innovative ways that local organizations are working to address them.

The funded projects represent a wide range of community priorities, including arts and culture, environmental stewardship, youth engagement, mental wellness, accessibility, food security, reconciliation, and community connection. Grants will support initiatives in communities across the region, from Tobermory and Lion's Head to Kincardine, Lucknow, Dundalk, Meaford, Hanover, and Owen Sound.

Several themes emerged during this year's grant review process, including increasing efforts to strengthen mental health supports, create welcoming and inclusive community spaces, promote environmental sustainability, and foster meaningful connections between residents.

Several Kincardine-area projects were among those receiving grants, including

  • Bruce County Public Library - $5,000 - Discovery Backpacks, combining literacy and hands-on learning opportunities for children.

  • Huron Shores Hospice - $5,000 - Wings of Remembrance - Community Butterfly Garden and Memorial Release, creating a butterfly garden and memorial release experience for families and community members.

  • Big Brothers and Big Sisters of South Bruce North Huron -- $,5000 - Capturing Impact: Growing Mentorship in Bruce County, producing a professional video and media asset library to strengthen volunteer recruitment, donor engagement, and community awareness across Bruce County.

  • Kincardine Environmental Action Network (KEAN) - $1,500 - Re-Love Runway Sustainable Fashion Show, a fashion event highlighting sustainable alternatives and community talent.

  • Kincardine Skating Club - $3,500 - Skate Strong: Off-ice and Physical Literacy Initiative, providing off-ice programming focused on strength, co-ordinator, movement skills and confidence-building.

  • Lucknow Agricultural Society - $5,000 - Art in the Park, creating a free, family-focused arts event featuring hands-on- activities, community engagement opportunities and artistic experiences for all ages.

  • Lucknow United Church - $5,000 - Building Community Connections Through Accessible Spaces, improving accessibility and welcoming community gathering spaces to better support local programs and connections.

  • Pine River Watershed Initiative Network (PRWIN) - $1,000 - Roots of Knowledge at the McLarty Education Cenetre, offering education programming focused on environmental stewardship and watershed educaation.

  • Ripley Agricultural Society - $3,000 - A Stronger Foundation for Community Gatherings, undertaking facility improvements supporting agricultural events and expanded community use.

"Every application tells a story about people working to make their communities stronger," said foundation executive director Stuart Reid. "This year's projects demonstrate creativity, collaboration, and commitment that exist across Grey-Bruce. We are grateful to our volunteers, donors, and community partners who make these grants possible and help create a lasting impact throughout the region."

Community Foundation Grey Bruce manages more than 200 endowed funds established by generous local individuals, families, businesses, and organizations. Spring Community Grants are supported through a collection of endowed community funds and are made possible through the expertise and dedication of volunteer grant reviewers from across Grey-Bruce.
