Murray Fraser MacKinnon of Goderich, formerly of Lucknow and Ripley, died June 20, 2026, at the age of 71.
Remembered with much love by his brothers, Jim (Anne) and David (Cathy); and by his sister, Mary (Jim) Frayne. He will be deeply missed by his nieces and nephews, Jack, Jennifer, Shane, Jonathan, Catherine and Andrea and Rachel.
Predeceased by his parents, Fraser and Doris MacKinnon; and his nephew, Dylan MacKinnon.
Murray was always keen to play a multitude of games, including euchre, pool and sequence. He loved to follow the “ups and downs” of his favourite teams, whether it be the Leafs, the Blue Jays or the Raptors. He loved to “keep up with” the hirings and firings, the trades and drafting positions and their future prospects of success.
He was a very social person, and enjoyed meeting people and talking to everyone. He always spoke so fondly of his Bervie neighbours, and in more recent years, his neighbourhood clan in Goderich. He also treasured his time spent at the Ripley Legion where he helped out for years at the monthly wing night.
Every Monday, he volunteered at the Goderich ReStore, where he had another connection of good friends. Tuesdays and Fridays were filled with fun and good food as he socialized at the McKay Centre for Seniors. Perhaps the dearest place he held in his heart was none other than his childhood church, South Kinloss, just north of Lucknow. There, he was welcomed by friends, old and new, and always felt as if he was exactly where he belonged.
A special thank you to Savanna Langer at the Goderich Surf Shop. Every day was made just a little brighter and sweeter by his daily visit with this special gal. And thanks to Dee, his caring neighbour and good friend.
The funeral will be held at the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow, Thursday June 25, 2026, at 1 p.m., with visitation one hour prior (12-1 p.m.).
Interment, South Kinloss Cemetery, Lucknow.
Donations to South Kinloss Presbyterian Church or the Diabetes Association are greatly appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Condolences on-line at www.mackenzieandmccreath.com.
